Red Hot Chili Peppers Talk New Album, John Oates Staches Again, more

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have told Clash Magazine that they are aiming for October 2010 for the followup to their 2006 album Stadium Arcadium. Drummer Chad Smith, fresh off his work with Chickenfoot, said "We're gonna write for a while, it usually takes us a while. Sometime next year, maybe this time."

John Oates actually regrew his famous mustache for the first time in twenty years to attend the American Mustache Institutes "Stache Bash." Oates also played a set that was filled with his own versions of some of Hall & Oates' biggest hits. For a review, go to the Riverfront Times site.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is putting the focus on the song that brought rap to the mainstream from January 29 to 31 as they present The 30th Anniversary of Rapper's Delight - The Past, Present and Future of Hip-Hop Tribute Concert. The Hall has already announced that Wonder Mike and Master Gee of the Sugarhill Gang will be performing and they are expecting other icons of the genre to also participate.

Although rap music had been around for many years, it was Rapper's Delight by the Sugarhill Gang that gave the genre it's first international exposure. The record went to number 36 on the U.S. Singles, number 4 on the R&B and number 3 on the U.K. Singles charts.

Yoko Ono has granted the makers of the film Nowhere Boy, based on the early life of John Lennon, the rights to use Lennon's song Mother. Director Sam Taylor-Wood told Sky News "She's given the rights to Mother which she's never given the rights to before. She wouldn't have if she didn't like the film. That's really the stamp of approval. The song Mother was essential for the end of the film. Yoko had never granted the rights before so it was nerve racking."

Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister told Abort Magazine that Motorhead would be going into the studio in February to record the followup to their last album Motorizer.

Guitar Hero will get three new KISS tracks on November 19 as Modern Day Delilah, Lick It Up and I Was Made for Loving You are released in a special Track Pack.
