Jacksons Reality Show Gets Premier Date, Elton John Back to Touring November 14, more
The A&E series, The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, will premier on December 13 at 9 PM ET. The six-episode series concentrates on brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito as they prepare to tour and in the aftermath of their brother Michael's death. The network VP Robert Sharenow said "This deeply intimate portrait will provide viewers with a raw and honest look inside a musical dynasty."
Elton John left the hospital where he was being treated for flu and E. coli and returned to his home on Thursday morning. He will return to his tour with Billy Joel next Saturday, November 14 in Oakland, California.
Morrissey once again stopped a concert, this time in the middle of the second song but, for once, it wasn't due to illness. The singer was playing the Liverpool Echo Arena and in the middle of Black Cloud when an audience member through a drink at the stage. Morrissey stopped the performance, said "good bye" and walked off the stage.
Witnesses were not able to say whether it was a glass or plastic cup but Morrissey's reps told the crowd that he had been hit in the head by a bottle and would not be coming back to finish the show.
Kenny Gamble, the creator of the Philadelphia Sound with Leon Huff, has written and recorded a new symphonic ode to patriotism, I Am An American. A CD/DVD package of the work will be released on November 10 for Veteran's Day to assist homeless veterans via the Veterans Administration. Recording with Gamble on the production were Patti LaBelle and the Temple University Symphony and Choir.
Gamble said "In this time of many changes in the world, I decided to not only honor my brother, a veteran himself, but to do something for all veterans as well as America as a whole that would be extraordinary…make a substantial difference and have a lasting impact. For me, music is that catalyst. It changes lives, lasts forever in our hearts and minds. Brings us together and encourages us."
U2 took home the award for Best Live Act at the MTV European Music Awards. Beyonce was the big winner of the night, taking Single (Halo), Female and Video.
The odd combination of Bryan Ferry and DJ Hell have teamed up to produce the new song, U Can Dance. The pair originally met in 2006 and discussed Hell remixing a Roxy Music track but the discussion eventually moved to the previously unrecorded Ferry song.
Although the pairing may be strange, the two reportedly hit it off well. Hell said "I was impressed by his aura and his look" while Ferry (and, evidently, some unseen friend) said "He impressed us with his sophistication and charm."
