Wood Says Faces Tour a Go, Ronson to Produce John, more
Ron Wood says that the Faces tour is a go. He recently spoke to Rolling Stone, saying “We had a few fantastic rehearsals last week and we’re ready to go. It’s like no time has passed by.”
He also said a number of people have shown interest in taking over the bass playing duties for the late Ronnie Lane, including Flea. If that comes to pass, it would be good if Flea could keep his clothes on, because nobody wants to see Ron or Rod follow suit.
Mark Ronson, who shot to stardom producing albums for Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and others, is reportedly set to produce the next Elton John album.
Add Sir Paul McCartney to the long list of people disappointed in Robert Plant's decision to forgo a Led Zeppelin tour. “What’s happened to Planty? He was great at their gig. It’s such a pity.”
Elvis Costello has told Spin magazine that he still would like credit from filmmaker Jared Hess for coming up with the name Napoleon Dynamite. Per Costello, Hess used the name for his mid-80's alter ego, saying "The guy just denies completely that I made the name up... but I invented it. Maybe somebody told him the name and he truly feels that he came about it by chance. But it's two words that you're never going to hear together."
Metallica's Lars Ulrich says that their tour in support of Death Magnetic could easily last into 2010. He tells Rolling Stone, “We’re booked up through August of next year, and right now we’re sort of laying out Fall of ‘09 and the Spring of ‘10. We’re waiting for a few other countries to be actually formalized as nations so we can be the first band in. We’re also waiting for the polar caps to stabilize so we can go play there. There’s talk about some other planets too.”

Rear Admiral George Morrison, father of the late Jim Morrison, passed away back on November 17 from natural causes at the age of 89.
Lawrence Gowan, keyboardist for Styx, and Burton Cummings will host the Canadian Music Industry Awards this coming March in Toronto. They are one of four awards ceremonies held during Canadian Music Week.
