John & Joel to Hit the Road, Faces Rehearse For Possible Reunion, more

Elton John and Billy Joel will be taking their Face-to-Face tour on the road periodically over the next two years. The pair will start in select cities in March and May of next year with the total itinerary and extent of the touring to be determined.


The British site raygigs.com is reporting that they talked recently with Rod Stewart, who told them that he, Ron Wood, Ian McLagen and Kenney Jones will be getting together next Monday to find out how the chemistry is for a Faces reunion or, as he put it, to "check if they can remember the songs."
A biopic on the early life of the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia is in development. The film will be based on the Robert Greenfield book Dark Star and will focus on Garcia's life in the military, living through a life-threatening car crash, an early encounters with musical partners such as Phil Lesh.

The Red Hot Chili Pepper's guitarist, John Frusciante, will release his new album, The Empyrean, on January 20 via Record Collection. Joining him on the album are bandmate Flea and former-Smith Johnny Marr. This is Frusciante's seventh solo effort.

Paul Weller has gotten an Southend, England venue in trouble. The Cliffs Pavillion was cited by the Southend Borough Council after hearing that Weller had lit a cigarette while performing.

Donny and Marie Osmond have signed on to host a new show focusing on people who auditioned to be child stars and never received their call backs. Rediscovered chooses them from audition tapes and allows them to take the state today. The program is scheduled to air December 23 on ABC.

Lee Greenwood (God Bless the U.S.A.) has been named by George Bush as one of the 14 members of the National Council on Arts which oversees the National Endowment of the Arts. The appointment is for a six year term.

Jack Reno, who produced seven top 40 country records including the number ten hit Repeat After Me, passed away from brain cancer back on November 1. He was 72.

Reno also spent much of his life as a DJ, starting station WUBE-FM in Cincinnati, Ohio and being awarded as top DJ in 1967 and 1978.

AC/DC's Black Ice has been knocked from the top of the Billboard Album chart by the soundtrack to the new movie Twilight. The soundtrack sold 165,000 copies while Black Ice sold 160,000, good for second place.

Sales for the week were 7.02 million units, down 29% from the same week last year.
